LOCATION

The villa is located in São Martinho do Porto, a charming coastal town. You will find numerous cafes and restaurants on the promenade. This bay is a shell-shaped lagoon (la Concha) that is connected to the ocean. Along this bay you will find hills, dunes and a beautiful silver sand beach. The wide beach is a paradise for children. Via the landscaped walking paths along the dunes or through the surf, it is a 45-minute walk to the village of Salir do Porto. You will also find a tumble dune there: a sporting challenge for young and old.

 

SURROUNDINGS

Caldas da Rainha (20 km): one of the most famous towns on the Silver Coast and is known for its hot springs, pottery and ceramics. A pleasant city with beautiful shops and terraces, where every morning a typical Portuguese fruit and vegetable market takes place on the Praça da Fruta. Here you will also find many large supermarkets.

 

Nazaré (15 km): it used to be a picturesque fishing village. It has now become the most popular seaside resort on the Costa da Prata. Nazaré has many assets: a very wide beach, a harbor with colorful boats, a beautiful promenade and cozy restaurants. The old city center of Nazaré, O Sítio, is located on a rock. You will find a beautiful chapel with typical Portuguese azulejos and a special square. The best way to get here is by cog railway. The view above is breathtaking.

 

Alcobaça (20 km): The monastery was declared a World Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 1989 and is one of the most impressive and beautiful witnesses of Cistercian architecture in all of Europe. Although the monastery is more than 900 years old, the medieval outbuildings and the church have been preserved. This church is the largest primitive Gothic style church built in Portugal during the Middle Ages.

 

Óbidos (25 km): The historic medieval town of Óbidos is one of the most beautiful towns in Portugal. The historic castle with its imposing towers and defensive walls that surrounds the city dominate the city skyline. Every year Óbidos organizes a number of festivities. The most popular are the International Chocolate Festival, with chocolate carvings, competitions and shows, held in March, the Medieval Festival in July and the Christmas village in December..

 

But also Peniche, Tomar, Batalha, Mafra, Fatima, Leiria, Aveiro.. are worth making a day trip out of.
